International Immersion

GLS University aims to develop globally aware graduates with internationally competitive skills well-matched to the international jobs and assignments of today and future. The prime focus to bring internationalisation will be by fostering globally connected research and scholarship.

At present, the institutions under the umbrella of University have entered into foreign collaborations with leading academic institutions from across the globe to benefit their students and add value by imparting international immersion programmes.

The program will be based in California Baptist University, USA or Georgian College, Canada. If you are enrolled as either GLS University post graduate or under- graduate student, you will receive a 6 credits for completing this program.

Objectives

The international immersion programme focuses on the following objectives:

 

Hands-on, guided experience in examining cultural diversity in American and Canadian contexts.

 

Concepts and trainings in the area of Management, IT, Commerce, international environments, design and legal frameworks.

 

Enhanced understanding of how to promote social action and change.

 

Historical, cultural, religious and social perspectives of the factors that shape European society and promote resilience of its citizens.

 

A comparative perspective on how similar social issues are (or can be) approached in India.

 

Professional and personal growth associated with cross-cultural exposure, including increased cultural awareness, cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability to a new culture.

 

An international network of friends, colleagues and professional connections.

Format of programme & Participants

Over approximately three weeks in May/June, participants will be immersed in the International environment at world's most developed nations. The program will consist of lectures with faculty and guest speakers, discussion panels, experiential and reflective exercises, and group-based and independent assignments. The program will also include site visits to corporate, social service, community and human rights organizations, as well as several sight seeing trips and cultural excursions.

By design, the program is interdisciplinary, and participation is open to GLS University; undergraduate and graduate students in any major; faculty and staff from the university and other institutions of GLS. Only a limited number of participants will be accepted, so early enrollment is encouraged. Prospective participants should plan to attend an information session to become familiar with the program’s expectations.

Accommodation & Program Cost

On Campus at both the destinations in twin sharing rooms fully equipped with beddings, wardrobes and study areas along with attached utilities.

Program costs include three-week accommodations (double- or triple-room occupancy), breakfasts, lunches and dinner, local transportation during program hours and field excursions. In addition, costs include a program administrative fee. Other fees are additional, including air-fare, visa charges, application fees and a health insurance policy and other incidentals.
