FCAIT and FET department of GLS University, organized a 2 Day National Techfest – CYBERSHADEZ 2023 with the theme “Cyber Security” during 24-25, February 2023. More than 1100+ participants from 90+ institutes and 19 states across India participated in the event in hybrid mode. More than 28 technical events were be organized over a period of two days. A Total of 28 technical events such as Tech Hackathon Idea presentation, Squash the Bug, Logo Designing, Programming, Python Charmer, IT Quiz, Code Jigsaw etc under three different tracks PG, UG and BTech, are being conducted over a span of 2 days.. A one month long online Techathon is a new addition to the list of events in CyberShadez 2023. We are happy announce that we have received participation from Indonesia, Russia, Mexico, Spain and USA also. 30 odd projects based on Security and Blockchain have been selected for further evaluation in Techathon. The online event is supported by organizations like Devfolio, Polygon, Filecoin, Solana and Replit. During the inauguration Dr. Savita Gandhi, Dean, FCAIT-PG, GLSU gave an insight on Cyber Security and how it is going to impact the future IT students. Dr. Harshal Arolkar, Professor & Head, FET briefed the gathering about the events that were to be conducted during the 2 days. The Chief Guest of the function Shri. Ajit Rajian, IPS, DCP, Cyber Crime, Ahmedabad gave the keynote address. He briefed the students about the emerging trends in the area of cyber crime. He emphasized on the fact that in Cyber Era you can be a cyber victim or a cyber perpetrator (knowingly or unknowingly). He also stressed that the students of technology should make the most vulnerable section of Internet users (children and senior citizens) aware about the perils and what are the do’s and dont’s. This way we can restrict the society being victim to cyber frauds at large. Pro. Vost, GLS University, Dr. Bhalchandra Joshi graced the event and motivated the students, he thanked the Chief Guest and said that such experience sharing will definitely benefit the students and faculties both. Dr. Dharmesh Shah, Registrar, GLS University, motivated the students to take upon the challenge of cyber hygiene awareness and promised all necessary help needed for it. The winners were awarded cash prizes and bounties worth Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
Life is a set of chapters, as one chapter ends the other begins. Yesterday (10th November 2017) was one such day, End of a chapter for Graduating students of MSc (IT) Batch 2015-2017 and a beginning of new chapter as a new entrant in industry.
