During the global pandemic COVID-19, FCAIT - MSc (IT) programme utilized digital platforms to remain connected with all the students. FCAIT followed the motto “Stay Safe, Stay Home” during lockdown but ensured the student activities does not get locked down.

FCAIT arranged interactive sessions and examination, presentations, video recordings, live sessions for the post graduate students of MSc(IT), iMSc(IT) and PGDCA programme using various online platforms and open source tools. A glimpse of all these activities is listed herewith.

Data Science-a domain that uses scientific approaches, procedure, algorithms, and framework to extract the knowledge and insight from a huge amount of data. Data Science encompasses machine learning, visualization, pattern recognition, probability model, data engineering, signal processing and many more techniques. This emerging field has become a crucial component affecting the world economy. MSc(IT) Programme, FCAIT, GLS University has organised a Webinar on Data Science-Handling Data to predict Behaviour.

An interactive student-mentor session was arranged for the students of MSc (IT) Sem-IV using Skype. The students living across different cities of Gujarat demonstrated and presented the work done by them during their final semester industry internship. Mentor and students had one-to-one interaction wherein the mentors guided the students on how to improve upon the work done by the students.

The students living across different cities of Gujarat demonstrated their final semester software project emphasising the automation needed in various industrial sectors. Mentor and students had one-to-one interaction wherein they discussed the issues and tried to provide solution for each of the issues identified.

As said by Shri. Mahatma Gandhi, “Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” Following this notion the faculty team of FCAIT MSc (IT) programme raised oneself with the same indomitable will and did not give up during this time of crisis. They worked from home with comendable zeel and enthusiam daily and conducted online theory and practical sessions for students of MSc (IT) Sem-II and iMSc(IT) Sem-VIII students. This activities kept the students and faculties busy thus taking away a bit of gloom during this trying times.

FCAIT arranged an interactive online evaluation process for the MSc (IT) Sem-IV students who are placed in IT industry and working as interns at esteemed IT organizations. Students were allocated individual time slots wherein they could share their presentations to the faculties too. Faculties and students participated in the examination process keeping oneself safe and sound from the comfort of their home.

One of the very important self learning component in both MSc (IT) Sem-II and iMSc(IT) Sem-VIII is Summer Assignment. Students are required to develop a working prototype of an idea that they would like to work on. FCAIT sustained this learning process by arranging an interactive guidance and evaluation process. The students worked on various Industrial problems as their summer assignment projects. Few of the them are Voice enabled form filling, Emotion detection using sensor, E-learning solution for Sanskrit language, Attendance using face detection, AR Wardrobe, Smart parking system based on IoT, Automatic surveillance using webcam and anomaly detection and Platform to develop speech to text based applications.

The ultimate test of any institute is the placement offers that it can generate for its students. The institute’s placement cell actively assists the students in choosing and obtaining project assignments as well as suitable jobs in the industry. To make sure that our students get ample of opportunity and can compete with their counterparts pre-placement activities are conducted for the students.
“Keep Learning – Embrace New Experiences, See Opportunities, Surprise Yourself”. With this motive FCAIT started gearing up the students of MSc(IT) and iMSc(IT) programme with various pre-placement activities. The pre-placement activities included online sessions on basics of Computer Science like Programming in C, C++, Java, RDBMS, Data Structures and Apptitude training.

FCAIT is also very active and prompt in uploading various quizzes on daily basis comprising technical and aptitude questions. The students after attending the pre placement sessions are required to attempt these quizzes using our online platform “Moodle”. Students can thus evaluate themselves based on the score attained and getting summary of right and wrong answers with detailed solution.

To keep the evaluation process ongoing FCAIT has conducted various examination in all programmes using its open source LMS Moodle, where-in students are provided individual login to attempt questions within specified time limits. Individual attempts and result are recorded using this platform.
