Government of Gujarat has taken series of initiatives to design and develop innovation processes and ecosystem across its affiliated colleges and universities. At state level, SSIP is pioneering series of interventions and Gujarat Hackathon is an annual flagship program where young students can leverage their technical skills to solve real life challenges posed by various stakeholders.
Through this initiative, Government Departments will directly engage with more than thousands of technical students and challenge them to build digital solutions to improve their efficiency, plug revenue leakages and corruption. Hackathon was such a noble idea taken by the Government toward the nation building.
We are motivated by the fact that we have to join our hands and take successive actions toward digital India and we still dream of it. Six Teams of GLS University - FCAIT, MSc (IT) & iMSc Masters programme are participating in the Hackathon being conducted on 27th to 28th Feb 2020. The participation gave students an exposure to compete with various IT graduates from all over Gujarat.Plastic being the most versatile, cost effective and light weight polymer is preferred by all in their day-to-day life. Despite of all these features, plastic is hazardous to environment as well as living beings. They are indigestible by animals, intake of which results in their death. Plastic takes years to degrade. So, one must use bio - degradable product like paper instead of plastic.
On 15th September, 2015, the students and staff members of Faculty of Computer Applications and Information Technology, MSc(IT) programme organized a social activity assist in “Saying No to Plastic”. The students under the guidance of Ms. Snehal Shukla and Ms. Jenny Kasudiya, prepared approximately 250 good quality paper bags from old newspapers that they brought from their homes.
Later the students approached several vendors sitting outside Law garden and brought awareness about the harmful effects of using plastic bags and requested them to use paper bags. They distributed the hand made bio degradable paper bags to these vendors. The vendors promised to reduce the use of plastic bags as much as possible. In all the students enjoyed participating in the CSR activity.
